If you love miniatures and want to add a unique piece to your dollhouse, making a small wooden bench with a drawer is a fun and rewarding project. For this build, I used a mini table saw to cut the wood precisely, working with the 1:12 scale, which is the most common in miniature furniture.
I rely on a set of trusted tools that help achieve professional-looking results in miniature woodworking:
- Sandpaper – to smooth edges and prepare surfaces.
- Transparent brown stain – to bring out the natural beauty of the wood grain.
- Wood oil – to protect and enhance the finish.
- Jeweler’s saw – for delicate and precise cuts.
- Small table saw – to speed up straight cuts.
- 12V mini sander – for quick, clean smoothing.
I chose cedar wood because it is durable, easy to cut, and gives a beautiful natural look once finished. Before assembling the pieces, the most important step is to sand the wood properly. This ensures smooth surfaces and clean edges, making the final result much more realistic.
After putting everything together, I applied linseed oil to highlight the natural grain of the wood and give it a nice shine, just like real furniture. This finishing touch not only makes the piece look better but also protects it for long-term use.
I also prepared a step-by-step video tutorial showing the entire process from start to finish, so you can easily follow along and create your own bench at home.
